Literary critic Sir Frank Kermode, 90, died August 17, 2010. The traditional Shakespeare scholar and onetime proponent of deconstructionist literary theory, famously said of one of the elite universities where he taught, "Cambridge, of course, is exceptionally hostile to any kind of thought at all, as far as the English faculty is concerned."
