Gary Taylor sez Waugaman is as unconvincing as holocaust deniers

by Linda Theil Early modern literary scholar Gary Taylor, PhD , told Shakespeare authorship researcher Richard Waugaman, MD that he finds Waugaman's arguments unconvincing. In an August 19, 2014 email to Waugaman, Taylor said: " I simply find your reasoning, and your evidence, as unconvincing as those of Holocaust deniers, and other conspiracy theorists." Waugaman told this Oberon reporter: I’m delighted that a prominent Stratfordian has taken dead aim at us and has then shot himself in the foot. There’s now no doubt that for diehard Stratfordians like Gary Taylor, academic freedom means the freedom for them to silence dissent. We will no longer tolerate this. Waugaman's article "The Psychology of Shakespeare Biography: An Update" had been accepted in January 2014 by the editors of the 2015 edition of the English and Italian journal Memoria di Shakespeare: a Journal of Shakespearean Studies , an edition that would be dedicated to the topic of Shakesp...

Waugaman contributes to Italian journal

Richard Waugaman, MD by Linda Theil Richard Waugaman's article  " The Psychology of Shakespeare Biography: An Update " will be published in the 2015 edition of the Italian Shakespeare journal Memoria di Shakespeare . The journal -- which prints in both English and Italian -- will devote this entire issue to the topic of Shakespeare's biography.  Memoria di Shakespeare  co-editor Maria Valentini told Waugaman:  We found your articles extremely interesting and absolutely pertinent to our forthcoming issue on 'Shakespearian biographies'. We would be delighted to have an article by you. Waugaman's contribution is an update of a 2009 article that originally appeared in Brief Chronicles . Waugaman added: Some of the updated material [also] comes from my  2012 article  in   The Oxfordian , “ The Psychopathology of Stratfordianism.” I’ll also refer to the power of narratives — Stratfordian versus post-Stratfordian. I plan to add some materi...

Richard Waugaman reports on his authorship presentation at Kreeger Museum in January

by Richard Waugaman, MD I appreciate Oberon’s invitation to tell you about my presentation on Edward de Vere at the Kreeger Museum in Washington, DC on January 24, 2013. The full title of the program was “Shakespeare: Oxfordian and (Ox)Freudian Perspectives—Exploring Psychological Dimensions of the Authorship Question.” It was videotaped and may be available from the Kreeger Museum. My fellow presenter was Peter Kline, and the moderator was his wife Syril Kline. They have been Oxfordians for many years. Syril has written a novel on the topic, and Peter has completed a manuscript outlining his theory that Shakspere served as de Vere’s research assistant for his history plays. Syril was exemplary in serving as a neutral moderator. She explained to the sold-out audience that we Oxfordians do not always agree with one another. I admitted, for example, that I would personally be surprised if Shakspere knew how to read and write. I’m in a small minority of Oxfordians...

Waugaman knocks it out of the park

Richard Waugaman, MD , has emerged in the past decade as a primary proponent of research into the Shakespeare authorship query. When the  clinical professor of psychiatry at  Georgetown University School of Medicine was invited to deliver the  2012   Frieda Fromm-Reichmann Lecture he chose as his topic,  " A  Refugee from Chestnut Lodge Receives Asylum at the  Folger Shakespeare Library: New Discoveries about the  Authorship of Shakespeare’s Works”. In his presentation, Waugaman described -- among other issues -- his work on connections between the Sternhold and Hopkins Whole Book of Psalms and Shakespeare's work. He also discussed the psychological ramifications of Stratfordian resistance to Shakespeare authorship research. Waugaman's research is available at his website, The Oxfreudian , where a video of his Fromm-Reichman lecture will be linked when it becomes available. A transcript of his lecture is presented after the jump at th...
